UAE artists, apply to the “SAIMA Award for Arab contemporary creation” !

The ‘SAIMA Award for Arab contemporary creation’, organized by the Arab World Institute (AWI) highlights emerging visual artists from the Arab World.

Second edition of the ‘SAIMA Award for Arab contemporary creation’

The Second edition of the ‘SAIMA Award for Arab contemporary creation’ will be organized in conjunction with the exhibition ‘From Timbuktu to Zanzibar’, which will be inaugurated in April 2017 at the Arab World Institute (AWI).

The theme of 2017 SAIMA Award is: Sahara, as circulation spaces

Award :

*The Price supports the production of an artwork (€ 5000)
*The winner participates to an exhibition into the Arab World Institute
*The awarded artwork enters the AWI museum’s collections

Call for applications is open to candidates who fulfil the following conditions:

Nationality : Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, or Yemen.

- Artists below 40 years
- Presenting alone or as a collective
- Their artwork must never have been featured in a monograph (except gallery & art school)

The candidates will be required to submit to the judging panel an art project associated with one of the following disciplines: painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, video, or an installation.

The laureate will be rewarded by a panel of professionals in March, 2017.
