Large French delegation to the Special Olympics
The Special Olympics France delegation met several students from United Arab Emirates French schools the 10th march 2019. Together, they participated to different sportive activities and conferences on the theme of inclusivity. The event preceded the coming of the Olympic champion Alain Bernard, ambassador of the delegation, for the last training at the Sorbonne Abu Dhabi before the official opening of the Special Olympics where our champions competed within ten categories from the 14th to the 21st march 2019.

More than 200 school pupils from all six French schools in the UAE will gather at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi next Sunday, to meet and show their support to the 85 athletes of the French delegation participating in the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi.
Organized by the French Embassy to the United Arab Emirates and Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, with the support of seven French companies based in the UAE (Accor, AXA, J-C. Decaux, Engie, Schneider Electric, Société Générale, TOTAL) and the Special Olympics local organization committee, this meeting took the form of an exchange morning through sports workshop (ping pong, babyfoot, football, rower…) and conferences between the 85 athletes from the French delegation of Special Olympics and the students of six French schools homologated within the United Arab Emirates. A unique opportunity for the students of the French schools and the Sorbonne Abu Dhabi University to meet with the French athletes and their coaches. More than 500 people attended the event which took place in the presence of the French Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, H.E. Ludovic Pouille.
Definitely a festive event where the students gave presents to the athletes.

The 14th march 2019, the Olympic champion Alain Bernard, ambassador of the Special Olympics French delegation, came to the Sorbonne Abu Dhabi University for a sportive event and a moment of exchange with the French delegation athletes and the French schools students in the United Arab Emirates.
Our champions had the opportunity to receive advices within hours of the official opening of the competition in the presence of the French Ambassador, H.E Ludovic Pouille.
Greetings to all the athletes who played a part in the Special Olympics challenges. Congratulations to the sportsmen of the French delegation who won 45 medals (16 in gold, 15 in silver and 14 in bronze). A remarkable performance that shows us how these champions determination enables a change in handicap perception.
