Joint mid-term workshop between French and Emirati space agencies [fr]
The National Center for Space Studies (CNES) and the United Arab Emirates Space Agency (UAESA), met at the National Space Science and Technology Center (NSSTC) in Al Ain, from 11th to 13th December, 2018 for a joint mid-term workshop on the definition of their joint hyperspectral mission.
The NSSTC will be responsible for designing and building the satellite with the support of CNES. Facilities are being built at NSSTC in this framework such as a new assembly, integration and testing facility that will be completed by the end of 2019.
The joint workshop is an important step for the France - UAE cooperation because it allowed to build on the studies conducted since the signature of the Letter of Intent between the President of CNES and the Chairman of UAESA, on 11 February 2018, and to downselect fewer options for a detailed study that will lead to a final selected option for the instrument, the platform and the mission as a whole, based on the definition of the roles and responsibilities between CNES, UAESA and NSSTC, early next year.
