France, country of honor of the Abu Dhabi Festival 2016 !
The Abu Dhabi Festival, an unmissable event for music lovers in the UAE, has chosen France as country of honor in 2016. From 10 to 30 April, the Festival, organized by ADMAF (Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation), is showcasing big names of classical music.
For the opening night on 10 April, French soprano Natalie Dessay, accompanied by the baritone Laurent Naouri, excelled in classic French tunes (Poulenc, Fauré, Duparc).
Then came the symphonic music, with the première in Abu Dhabi of the Orchestre de Paris, one of the finest orchestras in the world. The ensemble, led by the brilliant Paavo Järvi, did 2 full-house memorable performances at the Emirates Palace on 15 and 17 April: Berlioz, Lalo (Cello Concerto, with, at the bow, Xavier Phillips), Saint-Saëns (with organ symphony played by Thierry Escaich) and the Tchaikovsky violin concerto performed by the virtuoso Sergey Khachatryan.
These three concerts have given to see and hear A-list artists who delighted the full house audience of the Emirates Palace.
The Abu Dhabi Festival continues until 30th of April. Do not miss it!
