Celebration of the French national day in the UAE [fr]
The French, Emirati and expatriate communities gathered on 14th and 15th July 2019 in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to celebrate the French National Day. The celebrations were held under the banner of Franco-Emirati friendship and French innovation.
The celebration of the French national day in the Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi brought together more than 1300 people from French, Emirati and expatriates, coming from all sectors, around the Ambassador of France, H.E. Mr. Ludovic Pouille and in the presence of H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, H.E. Nasser Thani Al Hameli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, H.E. Obaid bin Humaid al-Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs and Sara Musallam, Chairperson of ADEK (Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge).
After the UAE anthem sang by Sherine Tohamy playing the oud and his daughter Nejma, Maureen Angot and Alexandre Carcelen from the collective "Version Originale" sang the Marseillaise, the French national anthem.
The Ambassador then took the floor for a speech in French and Arabic highlighting the exceptional character of the UAE - French partnership, which today covers all fields, from defense to culture, from artificial intelligence to health, from the protection of the environment to education...
Ludovic Pouille and Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak then "launched", via a LED cube designed by the French Dubai based company Fractal, the film highlights of the Franco-Emirati relationship, entitled "France - United Arab Emirates: write the future", before visiting the innovation pavilion, created for the occasion to showcase innovative French companies based in the United Arab Emirates (Naval Group, Michelin, Ubisoft, Igiénair, Saint-Gobain, Fractal) around the mock-up of the French Pavilion of Expo 2020.
The evening then ended at BarFly / Venetian Village Abu Dhabi.

On July 15th, a little less than 1000 people gathered around the Consul General of France, Mrs. Raja Rabia at the Mövenpick Hotel in Dubai in the presence of the Ambassador of France, Mr. Ludovic Pouille and H.E. Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment.
The mock-up of the French Pavilion of Expo 2020 was also on display for this evening. A great opportunity for all guests to admire, in preview, the future French France of this major event of 2020.
